Restlessness

Currently, my life is the definition of restless:
unquiet or uneasy, as a person, the mind, or the heart.

Yep, sounds about right.

In my English class we are just now getting started on our fifth and final paper: the research paper. (Gag me). I hate research papers. I decided that I wanted to write on something I was passionate about, something I had an opinion about, and something that reflects who I am. Abortion. That was the easy part, finding the research to back up my paper, that's another story. You see, we have to get our research from the C.O.D. databases, and I've been finding out that it's not easy finding pro-life essays and articles... it's actually darn near impossible. Kristen, this girl in my class, I'm sure had absolutely no problem finding info to back up her pro-abortion paper.

Last week I was almost at my breaking point, I was tempted to pick a new topic, but I didn't want all my hard work to go to waste (plus, I really wanted to crush Kristen). So the next time I saw my teacher, I decided to ask for her help. "Abortion?" she asked me, quite loudly. "I don't know if that's such a good idea, I should have mentioned this before, but abortion is intrinsic value" (I nodded like I knew what she was saying...) "and we don't want to undermine anyone's values" (only if they're wrong.... was my next thought). After spending 20 minutes on the computer with my prof looking for research to back up my very nailed-in-stone opinion I walked back to my chair, depressed, dejected, and discouraged. Kristen would win.

With about 15 minutes left in the class I began frantically printing out articles about gun control... not something I'm very passionate about, but the good news is that apparently C.O.D. let SOME conservatives sneak through their cyber doors, because I was able to find a lot of research to back me up pretty quickly.

So now I have a decision to make. Which paper? Which topic? And I've been putting it off all day.

Happy note:

Vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thursday my ENTIRE family is going to Branson, MO. And I can't wait!

  1. Silly COD. That's totally ridiculous that you have to use their biased databases to find support. Is it at all possible to go with the pro-life topic? I'd go for it, if so. If not, gun-control is an equally-inflammatory topic (if you ask our dads!). ;)

Have a lovely time in Branson! SO wish I could go on vacation too :D Love you!!
